Honda Co-Founder Enters Automotive Hall of Fame

One of the co-founders of Honda Motor Company is getting the recognition that he deserves. Takeo Fujisawa is being inducted into the Automotive Hall of Fame at a ceremony in Detroit later this year. Who is Takeo Fujisawa?

Takeo Fujisawa co-founded this company alongside Soichiro Honda, who became the first Japanese auto executive to be honored by America’s Automotive Hall of Fame. Fujisawa teamed up with Honda in October of 1949, and these two men immediately got to work. Mr. Fujisawa contributed to various products, including the Super Cub, a top-selling mobility product.

Fujisawa’s Contributions to the Honda Motor Company

Mr. Fujisawa coupled a knack for marketing with a keen business sense. He helped establish the company’s American subsidiary, which was considered a challenging task at the time. He also helped build an independent network of dealerships and a separate research and development division that helped Honda engineers accelerate innovation.

His contributions to the company would continue to pay dividends as Honda models made their mark on more markets, and the R&D branch continued to deliver innovation after innovation. The Honda brand even entered the aviation industry before Takeo Fujisawa and Soichiro Honda retired together in 1973.
