Engineers have developed a new body shell for this model that uses 38% high-strength steel. The structures throughout this new body are designed to deliver maximum rigidity, which makes it easier for this vehicle to keep you safer in a crash.

Another safety innovation is the use of localized reinforcement. The footwell is a part of a car that isn’t thought of often, but new reinforcement and design changes have ensured that this model better protects a passenger or driver’s feet in an accident.

A reinforcement of the frame behind the front wheel well also helps reduce cabin intrusion in a collision. There’s also a new front upper frame member that extends over the front wheel well. It’s been designed to absorb energy and more effectively protect occupants in a crash.

The factory also works with advanced adhesives. This has allowed workers to build the 2023 Honda Civic with more torsional rigidity and increased stiffness than models from previous generations. This can improve performance and make driving more fun.

We’re also impressed by how the roof panel and side panels of the Honda Civic are connected. A unique laser brazing tool with two beams can combine the parts in just under 45 seconds. It leaves behind a smooth seam nearly impossible to see with the naked eye.
