Celebrating 30 Million American-Made Honda Cars

Some drivers say they want a car made in America, but they don’t realize that American brands aren’t the only ones investing in American manufacturing. The Honda brand is celebrating a considerable manufacturing milestone by producing its 30 millionth car in the United States. It turns out that plenty of your favorite models from Pacific Honda, like the Honda Accord, are often built right here in American factories.
Over 40 Years of American Manufacturing
The Honda brand recently celebrated another major milestone. It’s been building cars in the United States for over 40 years.
It started building cars stateside in 1982. Its first plant was also the first Japanese car factory in the country, and it was tasked with building the Honda Accord. This venerable sedan has changed a bit over the years, but the Honda brand’s commitment to American manufacturing has stayed the same through decades’ worth of updates and redesigns.
This first plant was established in Marysville, Ohio, and other plants in the state followed. Now the brand also has plants in other states, including Alabama and Georgia. Some of these plants build cars, while others build components.
30 Million Vehicles Manufactured
The Marysville plant built just under 1,000 Honda Accord models in its first year, but production ramped up quickly. More than 55,000 cars were produced the following year, and now around 750,000 Honda models are built annually in the United States.
