Q: What Kinds of Vehicles Can be Charged at an EV Charging Station?
A: Though the answer depends upon the charging station, most centers are equipped with Level Three chargers – commonly known as DC fast chargers – for compatible electric vehicles.
Non-plug-in hybrid vehicles such as the Honda CR-V Hybrid are unable to charge at EV stations, as they recharge through regenerative braking during the vehicle’s normal operation.
Q: How Long Does It Take to Charge My Vehicle?
A: This depends upon a number of variables, including the capacity of your battery, the level of power remaining in your battery at the time of charging, and the specific level of charging used.
That said, DC fast charging represents the fastest commercial charging speeds available. This method of charging bypasses your car’s AC/DC converter, delivering pure direct current to your battery at phenomenal speeds. For most electric vehicles, this allows you to charge to 80% capacity in as little as an hour.
Q: How Much Does It Cost to Recharge My Vehicle?
A: The answer will vary depending upon the pricing of electricity in your area and the amount of energy required to restore your battery. Some charging stations charge by use, while others use a membership subscription. But with skyrocketing gasoline prices poised to become the new normal, a quick charge at the EV station always costs less than a full tank at the fuel pump.
