2017 Honda Civic at Pacific Honda

2017 civic

For as long as Pacific Honda has been serving customers from San Diego, CA to Poway, CA, there's been one constant in the business: the Honda Civic. It's actually been around longer than we have, given that it first came out 45 years ago. It's like an old friend we've come to rely on, and a lot of the people we've served over the years feel the exact same way. The 2017 Honda Civic follows the same formula that's made the model such a success for more than four decades.

2017 Honda Civic Details

The Honda Civic got a redesign for the 2016 model year and keeps many of those features on the 2017 Honda Civic. The platform is lighter and stronger, with a lower center of gravity. The new, more responsive steering system also does its part to contribute to a ride that feels as good as it looks.

The trim, engine, and transmission choices are also familiar from last year. The Honda Civic LX and EX trims both get the same 158 horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The LX comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, but it can be optioned out for the CVT transmission that's standard equipment on the other trim levels. The remaining trim levels (EX-T, EX-L and Touring) each wring 174 horsepower out of a direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine.

What's New for 2017

While there are many features in common with the 2016 model, it's not the same car lock, stock, and barrel. All three available Honda Civic body styles (coupe, sedan and hatchback) get a turbocharged engine/manual transmission tandem available on at least one trim. And yes, you read correctly: the Honda Civic Hatchback returns to the fold in 2017.

2017 Honda Civic Safety and Special Features

With the Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE™) Body Structure it shares with other new Honda cars, optional Honda Sensing™ safety suite (with Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Road Departure Mitigation), and HondaLink® with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, the new Honda Civic strikes a great balance between safety and enjoyment. Like the rest of the new Honda vehicles, you'll get peace of mind alongside features that make even your worst commute or your longest road trip a lot more fun.

Buying a 2017 Honda Civic

The original Honda Civic was classed as an Economy Car, but it quickly moved beyond that designation. Not because it wasn't affordable, but rather because whatever else it may have been or done, this was one car that didn't drive "cheap." Four decades on, the 2017 Honda Civic keeps right on making history, both for the Honda Motor Corporation and for the generations of families from San Diego, CA to Lemon Grove, CA who've grown to love it.
