2016 Honda CR-V

2016 Honda CR-V at Pacific Honda

The 2016 Honda CR-V may just be the best compact crossover on the market. That's an impressive feat in such a popular -- and very crowded -- segment. What's new for 2016, and why should the Honda CR-V available at Pacific Honda be at the top of your list if you're looking for a compact crossover? Your San Diego, CA Honda dealer has answers.

2016 Honda CR-V Details

The 2016 Honda CR-V doesn't bring many changes over the 2015 model it replaces. The 185 horsepower/181 lb-ft torque 2.4 liter i-VTEC® engine powers all models, and it's coupled with a CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) with Sport Mode. All-weather tires are standard, found on 16 inch steel wheels on the LX, 18 inch alloy wheels on the top-end CR-V Touring, and 17 inch alloy wheels on the other trim levels.

There is one major change to the 2016 lineup, and that comes with the introduction of a new 2016 Honda CR-V SE trim level. Opt for that trim level and you'll get a security system, two-tone finish, and rear privacy glass. It shares standard features like a 70.9 cubic foot maximum cargo capacity (with the 60/40 rear seats folded down) and a 1,500 pound towing capacity with the other Honda CR-V trim levels.

2016 Honda CR-V Safety and Special Features

The 2016 Honda CR-V has a 2016 IIHS Top Safety Pick+1 rating and has earned a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA2. Hardly surprising, given strong unibody construction and a full complement of passive safety features like LATCH, child safety locks, and airbags. But there are also active safety features like Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control, brake assist, and ABS on each trim level, while the Honda CR-V Touring adds a Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning.

Of course, it's designed for more than safety. The driver-oriented cabin features steering wheel-mounted controls and a center stack with a touch-activated 7-inch display that lets you access HondaLink Next Generation®, literally putting music, systems information, Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System™ and more at your fingertips. There are USB ports for your gadgets, Bluetooth to keep your hands free to drive, and an SMS Text Message function that can read texts to you while you drive.

Buying a 2016 Honda CR-V

If you think the 2016 Honda CR-V looks good on paper, that's nothing compared to what it's like behind the wheel. Not much is changed from the 2015 model year, but then again not much needed to. This is just a mildly-tweaked version of an already excellent compact crossover. If you're in the market for your next new Honda car, or if you want a vehicle that provides excellent value without cutting a single corner, the 2016 Honda CR-V fits the bill.
