2017 Honda Accord at Pacific Honda

2017 accord

The iconic Honda Accord turned 40 years old in 2016, marking the occasion with a mid-cycle redesign. As an incredibly favored model on the roads around San Diego, CA and across America, it was a welcome addition here at Pacific Honda. As the 2017 model year gets under way, we wanted to give you a closer look at the 2017 Honda Accord so you'll know what to expect on your next visit to our showroom.

2017 Honda Accord Trim Levels

The Honda Accord Hybrid was absent from the lineup in 2016. After a redesign, it returns for 2017 in Base, EX-L, and Touring trims. It joins the 2017 Honda Accord Sedan (LX, Sport, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6, and Touring) and 2017 Honda Accord Coupe (LX-S, EX, EX-L, EX-L V-6 and Touring). There are no significant cosmetic changes to the car's interior or exterior.

2017 Honda Accord Powertrains

Given the substantial redesign last year, we didn't expect many changes after 2016. The drivetrains carry over from last year, with one exception. Engine choices on the Sedan and Coupe are a 185 horsepower/181 lb-ft of torque 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine in the base trim levels, the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine turned to 189 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft. of torque in the Sport trim, or a 278 horsepower 3.5-liter V-6 engine. Transmissions range from a six-speed manual (available on the base trim and V-6 coupe), a CVT, or a six-speed automatic transmission.

It's with the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid that things get interesting. The smaller and lighter battery pack allows for more trunk space, more endurance, and better fuel economy. There's extensive use of aluminum, and a brand new powertrain that uses a four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine in tandem with two electric motors. Its combined output is 212 horsepower.

2017 Honda Accord Safety and Special Features

As with last year's new Honda cars, the 2017 Honda Accord makes a full complement of active safety features -- adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and forward-collision warning -- standard on all trim levels. As before, select trim levels can be outfitted with optional lane keep assist, road departure mitigation, and automatic emergency braking. The Honda Accord continues with the Honda Display Audio system, featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
